My Children Use Tech in the Vehicle and I Don't Feel Bad About It

I see the looks from folks in their automobiles estimating me when my kids and I drive by in our minivan. The TV at the rear is on and my children are immersed in their kid-friendly pills. One has got the Kindle for both kids and one other, who is elderly, uses my husband's older variant iPad. They have cans on which are synced with the television. So I do it. From the outside, it appears like I am a dreadful parent that is stuffing displays before my children to keep them silent in the vehicle. And in a way that is true, but there's a whole lot more to it than that.

What you don't see is that I am homeschooling my childrenand when it appears like they have been rotting their brains with screens in the automobile they're actually learning. As I'm driving them to action, sports, clubs, and playdates they truly are about their tablets reading and working online course. The TV is on, but it's streaming a lesson out of Khan Academy on great composers therefore they are playing music whenever they've been doing assignments. So while the outside world is penalizing me forgiving my kids screen time they are totally immersed in learning, maybe not in poor excellent entertainment.

Give classes

And why wouldn't I give them courses to complete while they are in the car? A few days with traffic normally it takes me a while to find the older one to her soccer lesson. That's only two full hours of captive learning simply because they've to take the car anyway. And that means that later on, they are able to spend two hours out playing with their friends rather than sitting in the front of the screen in your home because they already have their lessons done. If we're going to be trapped in traffic I'd rather have them engaged and busy doing work in the car where they can't really do much of anything else anyway. That is only intelligent company and making the most of the time. Also it instructs them to get the most out of the time and use the time to their advantage.

So spare me and other parents the judgmental looks at stop signs and stoplights when you look over and see our kids with their minds over displays and ear phones on. That you have no idea what they will be considering or the things they truly are operating on. There's much too much judgment in parenting circles these days and inadequate willingness to explore other methods to accomplish things. Psychotherapy is not something which works in accordance with a single set of rules. All of us have to locate ways to accomplish what's better for our kids and what fits into our lifestyles. And if you're ready to speak with parents who do things differently out of you then you might even pick up a few ideas and advice to locate new ways to do things yourself which may make your work as a parent easier.
